Every change to the security deposit rules behind Tektolo's answers is logged here: the version, the date, the states and rules it touched, and the statute. Follow a state's feed to hear when its rules change.
How the rules stay current
Every deposit answer names the ruleset version it ran on and gives a rules-as-of date: the earliest day on which any source behind that answer was read. Answers from the API and from AI assistants also carry the ruleset's hash.
When we change the rules, because the law changed or to correct how we apply it, we make a new ruleset version and log it in the rules changelog with the states and rules it changed. Our build fails if the rules change without a new changelog entry.
Each entry says whether the law changed or only our reading of it. When a change follows an amendment, the entry names the amendment and its effective date.
The same question under the same ruleset always gets the same answer. When the law changes or we fix a mistake, the answer changes, and the changelog tells you why.
The rules are not legal advice. Some sources are copies of the official code that can lag behind it; each answer's citations say which source was read and when.
Follow changes
A feed reader can tell you when the rules change. Add the feed for all changes, or the feed for one state. There is nothing to sign up for, and we don't ask for your email address.
Pin a version. Send the Tektolo-Ruleset header with a ruleset version or hash on an API call or download, or expect_ruleset on an MCP call. If the rules have changed since, the call stops before it runs or counts, with HTTP 412 (an error on MCP) and a link back here.
Get answers under the version you pinned. Also send Tektolo-Ruleset-Mode: serve (or serve_pinned: true on MCP), and we answer under that version, run from its signed archive, and the result says so. We do this for versions up to 12 months old. If a later correction or law change replaced the rules for your state, or we have no archive of that version, you get the 412 with the reason.
Check a document. A Tektolo summary or statement carries a verify link. Open it, or paste the code at /verify, to see which ruleset it used and whether that ruleset is still current.
